McLaren Automotive’s Sport Series lineup seems to be annoucing more models with each passing month. Revealed today were two new Sports Series models that were developed cooperatively with McLaren’s motorsport division: the 570S GT4 and 570S Sprint.

Everything about the 570S GT4 is meant for the track. Inside the cabin is an FIA-approved rollcage, fire extinguisher system and the absence of luxuries typically found in road-going McLarens. Being a GT4 racer, this car naturally has dramatic aerodynamic components that not only make it look the part, but also create massive amounts of downforce and increase aerodynamic performance. The most notable of these components is the massive rear wing.

McLaren’s twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 M838TE engine is honestly one of the greatest engines out there, so it’s no wonder that it’s become so widely used. The 570S GT4 is the latest model to be powered by the engine, which is mated to a seven-speed gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels.

In the revealing press release, McLaren notes that the 570S GT4 will make its debut at the British GT Championship on April 16-17. For those private racers that want to purchase their own, they’ll have to wait for the 2017 season and pay £159,900, approximately $226,000 USD.

McLaren was founded and has been built around motorsport, so the addition of more race cars is definitely welcome. I can say that I’m more than excited to see more McLarens competing and will surely be watching the 570S GT4 make its debut.
